Scholarships & Fellowships

Delta Epsilon Sigma sponsors an annual scholarship and fellowship competition for its members. Junior-year members may apply for Fitzgerald Scholarships at $1,000 each, to be applied towards tuition costs for their senior year. Senior-year members may apply for Fitzgerald Fellowships at $1,000 each to be applied towards tuition costs for first-year graduate work. These scholarships and fellowships are named after the founder and first Secretary-Treasurer of DES, The Most Rev. Edward A. Fitzgerald of Loras College, Dubuque, lowa. The awards will be made available on a competitive basis to students who have been initiated into the society and who have also been nominated by their chapters for the competition. Applications may be obtained from the Office of the National Secretary-Treasurer.

INFORMATION

• Scholarships are awarded for full-time study in the senior year.
• Application must be accompanied by three letters of recommendation which address the academic, service, and character traits of the candidate, including one from the Chapter Advisor.
• Official transcripts of all college work (including transfer credits) through the current fall semester must be submitted.

The National Officers of Delta Epsilon Sigma serving as a Scholarship Committee shall award the scholarships to the applicants judged to be most worthy. In addition to scholastic achievement, consideration is given to leadership and service activities.

• Awards are announced by the National Office about April 1 each year.

PROCEDURES

• Application must be completed by student; please type or print clearly.
• Application must be accompanied by three letters of recommendation including one from the Chapter Advisor.
• Official transcripts of all college work through the current fall semester must be submitted.

The Chapter Advisor shall forward the application along with supporting information in quadruplicate sets, clipped together (4 copies), to reach the National Office on or before March 1.
